Pet Urns - Cremation + Urns
For many of us, our pets become more like a member of the
family than a pet. A pet can be your best friend, who's
there for you whether things are going well or not, and who
never holds your grumbles against you. If you want to learn
about unconditional love, then you only need to look at a
pet for the perfect example. So when your pet passes on,
it's a great idea to honor his or her memory with a pet urn.
Your dog, cat, bird or any other pet can be cremated, and
their remains stored for you to remember them by.
There's an enormous range of pet urns to choose from, with
various sizes, shapes and colors. You need to start by
working out a budget. Make sure you know what you can afford
before you look at pet urns, otherwise you might get carried
away and spend too much. Generally, basic urns are the
cheapest, and the more personalized and ornate the urn, the
higher the price. Sometimes it works well to have a plain
urn, and surround it by mementoes of your pet, such as
photos, or perhaps their collar.
It's also worth thinking about how you plan to use the urn.
If it's going to be on permanent display, then you might
want to look for a more decorative urn. If, however, you
plan to bury the urn, then a nice but simple container will
be sufficient.
If you want to get some more ornate, you have a huge range
of options to choose from. You can get everything from a
standard vase-shaped urn, through to life-size urns that can
be shaped to look like your pet. How about a hollow
rock-like urn to put in your garden, an urn with space for
photos, or a burial urn that has a marker attached for
placing in your own garden.
You can also choose the level of personalization you want
for your pet urn. It's fairly easy to buy an urn that has a
brass plate attached. You can then have your pet's details
engraved on the plate, and perhaps add a few personal words.
Depending on the material the urn is made from, you may be
able to have the urn laser engraved. Others have slots for
photos.
Many veterinary clinics sell pet urns, but you may find it
simpler to purchase one from the pet crematorium to avoid
any extra fees for transportation. Choosing the right pet
urn is never an easy experience, but it's a great way to
have a lasting memory of your much-loved pet, so that they
are never forgotten.
